Wedding Time

Mike's cousin, Jen, got married the weekend before Christmas. Dominic had the honor of being the ring bearer. At the dress rehearsal, Dominic freaked out a bit and wouldn't walk down the aisle. He just started crying and asking for me to pick him up. I was so nervous for the next day.
After the rehearsal, we tried to practice going down the aisle a few times but not too successfully. The day of the wedding we practiced in the hotel room. I ran an errand and the boys started practicing without me. At one point Dominic put the pillow on the ground and laid down to put his head on the pillow then saying "night night". Oh no, this is not nap time. Then we practiced again and Mike and I are trying to sing wedding songs and then telling him to march. He liked the marching. When the time came to put on the tux, he didn't like the shoes. Once we told him they were marching shoes he then liked them. So we ran with it. We kept talking about marching in our marching shoes down the aisle for cousin Jenny for the next 45 minutes. If he was a teenager...he would have rolled his eyes and told us "yeah, I got it"....thankfully, he's only two and still thinks what we tell him is cool.
At the wedding he did great. He walked down willingly and smiled. About half way down the aisle, he decided to throw the little pillow on the floor, like he just got a touchdown. Maybe he was copying the flower girl as she was throwing her flowers o the ground...who knows?! Someone kindly picked it up, handed it back to tim and he proceeded the rest of the way. I think both Mike and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Winter Fun

Downtown LaGrange:
We visited downtown LaGrange with our friends, the Yates. Santa arrived downtown on a firetruck and many of the shops were giving out hot chocolate, apple cider and some food. Neither kid was too interested in Santa and were fine seeing him from afar.

Dominic and Alexandra discovered what hot chocolate was that night too. I'm sure it's now both of their favorite drink!

The Yates, sin Logan. He was all wrapped up and snugly in the stroller.

First Time in the Snow for 2010:

Annual Downtown Dinner:
We headed downtown for a nice dinner with my family. Afterwards we went to the winter market in Daley Plaza to get a picture by the tree.

Yes, we know we need to wear different coats that don't have reflective strips on them.

Yes, that is leftover cookies on his face. What would be an outing without someone (beside mom & dad) giving him cookies?

Baby Number 2

We are just hitting the 6 month mark with baby #2. We are now in the process of switching furniture around the house. Office to the basement, Dominic to the 3rd bedroom upstairs.

Our ultrasound at 20 weeks/5 months went well and below are some pictures of "Xerxes" as Mike likes to affectionately call this baby. We didn't find out what we are having, like we did with Dominic. I like the surprise too much.

Making Cookies

We tried making cookies this year after Thanksgiving. It ended up being an activity over days as Dominic's attention span isn't too long. He favorite part was the mixing. He was the most engaged during this part.

As for the decorating...it was more about eating the frosting after one swipe on the cookie than anything else.

Now cookies are his favorite thing to ask for...and he'll ask anyone. We were in Home Depot the other day and another customer walked by. Dominic proceeds to say "Hi" enthusiastically, which is nice and make people smile...but then says "Cookies?" Like everyone is walking around waiting to give him one. Goofy kid.

Fall

Halloween was fun for all of us this year. Dominic liked dressing up and telling us a pirate says "aarrrgg". The first house he tried to walk inside...thankfully it was just a neighbor. After a couple of houses he got the hang of it and kept wanting more candy. I don't think he really knew what he was getting but he was excited that he was filling up his little bucket with stuff.

Grammy & Papa G. came with us. I know...this isn't the greatest pic but it's what I got.

Fun for Dom...work for Mom and Dad.

These are my favorite pictures from fall. When Mike pulled out the mower and started it up, Dominic RAN for his mower yelling for Daddy to wait. He was so excited to mow just like him. Sometimes Dominic (being 2) has a short attention span but he "mowed" for quite a bit with Mike with a big old smile on his face.

Funny Hands

Dad's turn to post again and what better way to post than with another funny video. Dominic is learning first hand (pun intended) what makes playing "Simon Says" so much fun. I love his last little comment.

Just for Mommy

While Mommy is away, I made a post for her. I miss you mommy. Come back soon.

P.S. Daddy says it's ok to wear pj's all day.
