Mike's cousin, Jen, got married the weekend before Christmas. Dominic had the honor of being the ring bearer. At the dress rehearsal, Dominic freaked out a bit and wouldn't walk down the aisle. He just started crying and asking for me to pick him up. I was so nervous for the next day.
After the rehearsal, we tried to practice going down the aisle a few times but not too successfully. The day of the wedding we practiced in the hotel room. I ran an errand and the boys started practicing without me. At one point Dominic put the pillow on the ground and laid down to put his head on the pillow then saying "night night". Oh no, this is not nap time. Then we practiced again and Mike and I are trying to sing wedding songs and then telling him to march. He liked the marching. When the time came to put on the tux, he didn't like the shoes. Once we told him they were marching shoes he then liked them. So we ran with it. We kept talking about marching in our marching shoes down the aisle for cousin Jenny for the next 45 minutes. If he was a teenager...he would have rolled his eyes and told us "yeah, I got it"....thankfully, he's only two and still thinks what we tell him is cool.
At the wedding he did great. He walked down willingly and smiled. About half way down the aisle, he decided to throw the little pillow on the floor, like he just got a touchdown. Maybe he was copying the flower girl as she was throwing her flowers o the ground...who knows?! Someone kindly picked it up, handed it back to tim and he proceeded the rest of the way. I think both Mike and I breathed a sigh of relief.
